Sudesh Jain, Sr. Vice President, Transport Corporation of
India Ltd., explained that the company used BI as its processes keep undergoing
revisions and its offices were spread across over a hundred locations in the
country with about three to four employees at each location.
Most of our transactions are in cash. In order to track
and monitor the same, besides for the purpose of auditing, business intelligence

Rajesh Panchal, Head - IT Applications, Pidilite Industries
Limited, presented the use case for BI at his organization, saying that the
company needed these solutions for quarterly consolidation and results. He said,These
solutions have helped us in automating financial consultation on a one-on-one
basis without wasting time.
With almost 147 agents and about 5,000 to 6,000 invoices to be generated every
month, Niranjan Bhalivade, CIO, Ceat Limited, said, With so much of data,
it was difficult for us to generate reports; moreover, managing schemes with
data from the ERP system was difficult. We needed to tell the consumer more
about ERP data, which remained locked earlier. Now that same data is being used
for guiding people and acquiring business.
Most BI solutions only have reporting solutions and middleware is required
to do scenario analysis, financial and scales forecasting. Thats not the
case here, he added.
Nigudkar concluded, The advantage of the solution is that data becomes
available for regulators. Also, business intelligence is now transformed into
analytics.
