Aruba Networks announces value-priced 802.11n Access point

Shalendra Singh

Aruba Networks has announced the release of its compact, dual-radio AP-105 802.11n Access Point.  Priced at $834 US list, Aruba expects the AP-105 to accelerate the adoption of 802.11n in India by offering enterprise-grade security, high throughput, streaming video support, a lifetime warranty, and other features previously available only in more expensive devices.  Aimed at large enterprises, the AP-105 is competitively priced when used with Aruba’s recently introduced 600 Series Controllers.

“The AP-105 and our recently announced Virtual Branch Networking solution together address a wide range of campus, branch office, teleworker, and SMB scenarios typically found across India,” said Shalendra Singh, Sales Director for Aruba Networks India.  “As the world’s second largest enterprise wireless LAN vendor with fiscal 2009 revenues of $199.3 million, up 11.8% from the prior year, we have the products small and large customers need to right size their network infrastructure for faster growth and greater efficiency.  And we have the sales, support, and engineering resources needed to tailor solutions to local needs.”

The AP-105 comes in a compact package (132mm x 135mm x 45mm), weighing a scant 0.44 Kg. Its key features include:

  • Dual radio, 2x2 MIMO design delivers up to 300 Mbps per radio;
  • Integrated antennas support both wall and ceiling mounting;
  • 802.3af power over Ethernet (POE) simplifies installation;
  • Software reconfiguration allows repurposing for connectivity, mesh, intrusion sensor, and remote access applications – one access point, many uses;
  • Trusted Platform Module (TPM) securely stores network credentials and cipher keys to protect network integrity even if the access point is probed or stolen;

Adaptive Radio Management (ARM) enhances performance by managing client behavior.
