Ingres integrates with SAP Netweaver technology platform
Ingres Corporation announced that Ingres Database 9.2 is now certified for
integration with the SAP NetWeaver technology platform. The successful integration
certification underlines Ingres as an open source database for business-critical
applications.
Ingres Database 9.2 is now proven to interoperate with SAP NetWeaver, allowing
SAP applications to access the database through the certified Ingres interface
JDBC Driver 3.0 via SAP s interface scenario Universal Data Connect JDBC
for SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence 3.5 (BW-UDC-JDBC). This SAP interface
verifies that the vendor s JDBC driver is in compliance with the Universal
Data Connect technology. The certified integration enables Ingres customers
to rely on the business-critical and cost-effective Ingres Database for core
business applications and at the same time easily integrate that information
with SAP solutions for maximizing business results. For example, customers are
now able to compliment business intelligence processes carried out by the SAP
NetWeaver Business Intelligence module with data from Ingres-based solutions.
Likewise, data can be passed into an SAP ERP application-based system, enabling
businesses to consolidate information and optimize business processes.
Besides comprehensive services and support, Ingres Database combines business-critical
functionality and the reliability of a commercial DBMS platform with the flexibility
of open source technology. With Ingres, companies no longer need to pay up front
licensing fees for the right to use a highly scalable, highly available, and
high-performance database platform.
SAP NetWeaver is the open integration and technology platform that facilitates
the integration and alignment of people, information, and business processes
across organizational and technological boundaries. SAP NetWeaver provides the
development and runtime environment for SAP applications and can be used for
custom development and integration with other applications and systems.
