Foran forays into Indian market

Shipyards extensively use computer technology for designing and building ships. Foran V-60 is a complete and integrated system for ship design and production. It is being used for ship design in as many as 26 countries across the globe, including India.

Sener, which is an engineering firm, with various verticals has always been adding value to Foran by providing inputs from real ship designers. Vedam Design and Technical Consultancy is Sener’s marketing arm in India. Akshay Jain, CEO, Vedam Design and Technical Consultancy, said, “This partnership would be beneficial for Foran. Foran System has a GUI and a shipbuilding specific approach. Ship designers can learn, implement and operate with minimum IT support. All Foran related services are backed by Customer Support Group, staffed by a team of engineers, having experience and expertise in both ship design and system operation.

After installation, Sener offers technical assistance and training courses for the efficient use of Foran software. The solutions are being used in the ship building industry for hull forms generation, hull structure, naval architecture, outfitting, etc. It features a built-in strategy module for representing ship breakdown, creating user-defined structured work packages for organizing custom-need, highly accurate production and fabrication information.

Foran includes tools for the seamless generation of 2D drawings associated with the 3D product model. The Foran design review tools give users the possibility to walk through and fly around the 3D model in real-time. Foran software could be used in different types of ships—cargo vessels, passenger ferries, naval vessels, offshore, submarines, frigates, aircraft carriers, etc.
