F-Secure introduces health check service for PCs

F- Secure Corporation has launched a unique health check service for PCs through the Internet. This service would enable broadband users to test and check the well being of their PCs through the Internet. It allows Internet users to perform a comprehensive over-the-Web check on the overall security status of their PC, including the Operating System, Web browsers, e-mail clients and other application software.

This service is offered for ISPs as a fully customizable and localizable solution. The ISPs in turn would offer the service to their own subscribers as a value-added service at a monthly rental. Presently, Sify, VSNL, Airtel and Reliance broadband users can avail the health check service by F-Secure.

“This service offers a portfolio of consumer solutions that enable Internet users to take full advantage of the opportunities in their networked lives without the need to worry about vulnerabilities or security risks on their PCs,” said Jari Heinonen, Vice President, Asia Pacific Region, F-Secure Corporation.

The health check service is designed to verify if a PC is safe to use online and to help users solve potential security problems in their PCs with assisted software upgrades and security advice. This service provides users a regular updates on firewalls, anti-virus, IDS, IPS etc. In addition, it also allows Internet users to download these security applications.
