products at a time when other Indian IT majors were focusing upon selling
IT services"

Founded by Diwakar Nigam and T S Varadarajan, Newgen commenced
operations in 1992 with a commitment towards offering the best possible products
and solutions in terms of quality, and to fulfill customer demand by exceeding
requirements. The company, which has a global footprint with an installed base
of over 700 customers in 30 countries, is the market leader in India, and it
has a strong presence in APAC and EMEA, and intends to expand in the US and
Western Europe as well.
During the start-up phase, the company encountered lack of
awareness about its products in the Indian market. It, meanwhile, not only spread
the cause but also spelt out what its products and services meant. Internationally
too, the company initially faced hurdles, as it met fierce competition from
large competitors having an established presence in the market. However, Newgens
consistent focus on offering high quality products and services that went beyond
implementation, at acceptable price points to multinational corporations in
developing markets, and replicating these successes in developed markets helped
it overcome these challenges and made it a partner of choice for leading companies
worldwide.
From its incorporation, Newgen chose to be a company with a difference,
selling products at a time when other Indian IT majors were focusing upon selling
IT services, commented Jain.
With an employee strength of about 1,200, Newgens revenues for 2006-07
stand at around Rs 65 crores, maintaining over 36% growth. The company has four
research and development centersthree in New Delhi and one in Chennai,
consisting of over 300 members who enhance its product range and add to its
existing portfolio.
Newgen has a large base of clients, both national and international. Nearly
40 of our clients are Fortune Global 500 companies. In India, we have implemented
our solutions for some of the most admired names across industries such as Bank
of Baroda, ING Vysya, Max New York Life Insurance, Ranbaxy, ICICI Prudential,
EXL Services, Patni BPO, Wipro BPO, IBM Daksh, Airtel, Hutch, Reliance, amongst
others, added Jain.
