Managed security services market rising

Nitin Shah

According to the Yankee Group estimates, the 2006 managed security services market is worth approximately $4 billion, including consulting and professional services revenue. The Group believes that this segment will have a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14 percent from 2006 through 2010.

Allied Digital recently launched Remote Management Services (RMS) consisting of NOC and SOC at Mahape. These services will reduce the number of on-site visits made to the customer as 90 percent of the work can be done centrally and this, in turn, will reduce costs. Allied has invested around Rs 13 crores on its NOC and SOC.

The company’s RMS efforts are supported by Intel, HP and e-Cop—a Commercial Security Operations Center player from Singapore. The overall project plan has been devised with a view to leverage Allied’s current strengths to address international markets and expanding the company’s revenue base in the Indian market and allow it to address international markets for similar services.

“Security technology allows organizations to fully leverage our expertise in managing the most difficult and complex tasks in information security today i.e. round-the-clock security risk management, seamless network security monitoring, and real-time response to security threats and violations,” said Nitin Shah, Chairman and Managing Director, Allied Digital.

The company’s SOC facility has physical security systems ranging from biometric access control, closed circuit TV, fire-detection and suppression systems. The SOC will provide proactive protection and risk management for enterprise security around the clock to customers.

Allied plans to target large corporates as well as BFSI service providers within India and abroad who are vulnerable to security threats and want to mitigate the same efficiently and cost-effectively.

More than 60 percent of Allied Digital’s customers are showing interest in the SOC.

An individual at the SOC can handle around 150 to 200 devices (devices like firewall, router, server etc) and 1,000 to 1,200 devices at NOC. The NOC service is charged on a monthly pay-as-you-go basis per device and for the SOC at $700 per device/per annum.

The NOC will provide remote network management services to its customers. This facility is built around network, server and application management technologies from HP (OpenView) and LANDesk. This service works 24x7 and is staffed with experts having years of experience on desktops, servers, operating systems, messaging, databases, directory servers and backup systems. The NOC will cover monitoring and management of a wide variety of devices, platforms and applications.

Intel vPro technology with its built-in manageability which increases IT staff productivity by reducing desk side technician visits, proactive security to defend a business’ integrity and energy-efficient performance to power innovative applications.
