CII and IVF partner to launch SCM awards

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and India Value Fund (IVF) will host the Logistics Summit later this year. CII has partnered with IVF to launch the Supply Chain Management Awards in the sixth edition of Logistics Summit. The award to be held on September 18th and 19th in Chennai is to honor people who carry on backend operations and provide cutting-edge technology in the area of logistics and supply chain management in the Indian market. Four nominees from each category will be chosen who will have to make their respective presentations before a bench of jury members to be finalized shortly. There will be four slots for companies using supply chain services and two for enterprises providing them.

This segment, comprising both the organized and the unorganized players, stands at 13 per cent of the country’s GDP and is expected to become an industry worth $125 billion in size by 2010. George Thomas, Partner, India Value Fund, says, “This award is to recognize talent on both the ends, the service provider and the service user, in the logistics and supply chain sector that ideate and execute innovations.”

H.R. Srinivasan, Chairman, CII Logistics Summit 2007, says, “There is an impetus to bring in more investment that will help boost competition.” The aim behind instituting this award is to enforce improvement in the quality of competition and the service of the manufacturing and supplying industry.
