Brother International’s subsidiary in India

Brother International is in the news. In India the company wants to be the leading Fax provider and runner-up in laser printer and inkjet or laser MFCs. Recently it announced the establishment of a fully owned subsidiary in India to focus on the Printing and Solutions business and Personal and Home business of Brother products including laser printers, Multi function products, Fax machines, labeling, domestic sewing and embroidery solutions.

The company expects to achieve the one billion yen mark by early 2008, out of which every year about 30 percent will come from India. To achieve this it wants to increase their manpower, geographical penetration, establish a strong network with the existing distributors and provide better service to the customers.

Brother International (India) will be a direct subsidiary of Brother International Corporation, Japan and will focus on marketing, sales, customer support function for Brother products in the region.

“We would be further strengthening our sales and customer support activities, and boosting Brother’s brand image in the country,” adds Toshiyuki Takamure, Managing Director of Brother International (India).

Seiichi Hirata, Representative Director and President, Brother Industries, Japan adds, “We are confident that India along with China will emerge as a very big contributor to our business in the future.”

Recently the company has opened a recycling facility in Slovakia and in future they are planning to do the same in India. Headquartered from Mumbai, Brother International (India) has been designated as the operational base for Brother’s sales activities in the country. The company will initially have four branches that include the other three metros and Bangalore. Brother is also planning to double its head count in the country from the current 25 to about 50 within the next quarter.

Brother International (India) is in the process of setting up wider footprint and a responsive service network to enhance customer satisfaction and translate into wider acceptability of Brother’s products, thus resulting in more sales. Presently the company has no plans to open a manufacturing unit.
