What is MCRP (Mission Critical Routing Parameters)?
MCRP is short for Mission Critical Routing Parameters. These
four parameters are reliability, security, interoperability and fail safe.
Reliability is measured by support for Routing protocols and QOS. Once the basic
connectivity is assured, MCRP checks for Security which is critical for all
enterprises. With the customer assured of reliability and security, the interoperability
feature protects the customer from existing and future investment costs. The
final feature ensures uptime for the customer.
This trend of MCRP routers, provides the end-users with multiple
benefits such as low capital investment, recurring expense only on usage, single
point of escalation in case of downtime, clearly defined uptime and year on
year cost saving and thereby ensuring maximum ROI.
This emerging trend is a mutual win-win for both the end
user and the network Integrator who is be able to achieve high uptime commitment,
familiarity of the entire solution and no arbitration making the time for recovery
the lowest, cost per user is less owing to low product cost (technology is now
a commodity), high volumes and common infrastructure and proactive monitoring
owing to single ownership.
Has this concept been accepted?
About a couple of years, after closely studying the needs of its enterprise
customers, Dax decided to introduce MCRP enabled routers. Today, the company
has emerged as the third largest player in the routing space beating many established
brands.
MCRP has not only redefined investment decisions in networking but it has enhanced
Daxs position in the router space. Our router business grew 133 percent
year-on-year in 2004-05 and 35 percent in 2005-06.
Dax has acquired 1,750 new customers and sold 14,000 units in the last two years.
We have tapped the emerging managed services market that has contributed 10
percent of Daxs revenue from routers in 2005-06.
What are the latest developments at Dax?
On the technology front, we are currently focusing on Wi-Fi outdoor and Voice
and IVRS. With WiMAX showing promising and being patronised by various service
providers, Wi-Fi outdoor will complement the WiMAX head end.
Voice or IVRS will go a long way in automating various back office functions.
It will be an effective tool for enterprises to interact with their customers
with minimal human interference. On the business front, we are moving beyond
the consolidation stage in the large enterprise space. We are bringing more
focus to our sales team by re-prioritising verticals such as BFSI, education,
telecom, railways, PSU, defence, corporate to name a few.
