Lenovo opens an innovation center in India

Neeraj Sharma

Lenovo has announced the launch of its first innovation centre in India. The centre is based in Mumbai and is spread across 4,500 square feet. This is Lenovo’s third innovation centre, the first two are in the United States and China respectively.

The Mumbai centre will enable large enterprises and SMBs that are customers of Lenovo as well as its business partners, solution providers and independent software vendors to collaborate on the development of personal computing solutions.

Neeraj Sharma, Managing Director, Lenovo South Asia says, “India is one of the fastest growing markets for Lenovo.” He further states that the solutions and technologies that are incubated, developed and showcased in this centre will be driven by customer requirements.

Moreover, it will also involve deep collaboration with Lenovo’s partners in this venture to ensure that they find a satisfactory solution to the IT problems faced by the company’s customers.

Intel, Microsoft, LanDesk, IBM and Cisco will partner with Lenovo in this endeavour. These partners will help Lenovo to showcase enterprise level PC solutions in areas such as hardware platform, application integration, active management technology, network connectivity and power management.

The centre will deploy globally developed solutions to meet specific customer requirements in India. It will also be capable of developing solutions as and when they are required by customers.

The centre will include several components such as technology incubation, partner collaboration, solution development, imaging and training services.

Deepak Advani, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Lenovo says, “With our first innovation centre in India, we aim to help clients in developing markets overcome diverse challenges. This centre will serve as a collaboration venue for the creation of fully integrated solutions along with our alliance partners.”

The centre will act as a collaboration facility for the conception, development or deployment of new solutions, which encompass technologies and services from numerous companies.

At the centre, professionals from several companies such as Lenovo, Intel, Microsoft, LanDesk, IBM and Cisco as well as other technology companies, independent software vendors, and business partners will assemble together to brainstorm the possible solutions, interlock components, and resolve the actual details of deployment.
