Enterprise continuity management

K Aravazhi, VP of Sales at Sanovi, spoke about Panaces, the company’s enterprise continuity management software.

K Aravazhi

Sanovi presented its enterprise continuity manager, Panaces. Panaces monitors RPO or RTO, automates failover or fallback, eases test drills, and ensures test drills. It’s vendor-agnostic, so it works with a wide range of hardware, operating systems, databases, replication technologies and applications. It integrates well with enterprise software like Tivoli, Unicentre, OpenView, etc.

Often, in organisations, application-level recovery is manual and there is no control to measure continuity or recovery. Moreover, scripting is complex and capacity is over-engineered. Measuring impact of change on recovery is not possible.

Sanovi gives one solution for all above problems—Panaces. Panaces helps in Continuity Workflow Management, Testing or DR Drills, Continuity Monitoring, and Audit or Compliance Reporting.

The enterprise software provides integrated continuity management of applications and data protection or recovery systems. The various features include integrated continuity management, central repository, testing & verification, compliance & audit response, and heterogeneous support (databases, OS, storage and replication software).

For testing or DR drills, Panaces has built-in, granular, non-intrusive tests; intrusive testing at the DR site without affecting production; and pre-drill checklist tracking.

K Aravazhi, VP of Sales at Sanovi, said that business benefits include increased availability, lower DR deployment and compliance costs, assured continuity, guaranteed RoI on DR assets, lower operational costs, reduction of complex and manual operations, lower testing effort and cost, no need for ‘subject matter expert’ intervention, and reduction in change management impact on continuity.

Continuity workflow management is implemented by Panaces with flip-of-switch failover, fallback, switchover and switchback operations, integrated data recovery and consistency, ecosystem failover, and built-in replication for log shipment and application data. The recovery process configuration and pre-architected solutions ensure continuity provisioning. “If you don’t have Panaces it’s likely that your DR won’t work,” said Aravazhi.

Tackling challenges with Sanovi
Challenge Sanovi Panaces Solution
Heterogeneous environment Eliminate manual scripts and customisation. Agents for all vendor applications and data protection schemes. Inter-operability across mainframe, Unix, Windows and Linux environments, and popular databases. Standard approach to implementing continuity solutions.
Real-time visibility Computes real-time metrics like RPO/RTO, site-level and application-level availability, and site-level disaster tolerance, and presents it on a single console to help you monitor, measure and manage your Business Continuity solution.
Incident management Provides automatic and controlled policy responses to various events.
Continuity management Provides secure flip-of-the-switch control to move the application between continuity states.
Eg. normal mode to failover to fallback operations.
Testability

Provides different levels of non-intrusive and intrusive testing that can be scheduled or executed and monitored on demand.
