Kingston’s DataTraveler Mini Fun drive

Features: This drive measures 1.5 by 0.75 inches. It is available in a variety of colours such as orange, blue and yellow, and in capacities up to 1 GB.

The drive come pre-loaded with Big Fish Games’ Atlantis and Magic Vines gaming software. Atlantis and Magic Vines are available in seven languages—English, French, Spanish, German, Korean, Japanese and Simplified Chinese. Each drive includes a Quick Start Guide that will instruct the user on how to install and launch the games on their computer.

System requirements for Atlantis include a Pentium II 400 MHz or faster processor, 128 MB of RAM, and a video card capable of 3D acceleration in 800x600. Magic Vines requires a Microsoft Windows 98 or higher operating system, Pentium II 400 MHz or faster processor, and 64 MB of RAM.

LG’s Blu-ray disc rewriter

Features: This product lets you record, rewrite and playback high-definition video, as well as store data. It holds up to 25 GB on a single-layer and 50 GB on a dual-layer disc.

LG’s Blu-ray disc rewriter supports Blu-ray technology as well as older disc formats such as DVD, DVD±R, DVD±RW, and DVD-RAM. It is available in an internal drive configuration (GBW-H10N). The GBW-H10N is capable of burning Blu-ray discs at 4x for BD-R and 2x speed for BD-RE (Rewritable disc). It can also write on DVD-RAM media at 5x.

Corel’s Snapfire Plus software

Features: The software assists you in organising and sharing digital photos and video clips. It provides a Message Centre that guides users to the features available to them. In addition to the organising and sharing options of Snapfire (the freeware version), Snapfire Plus offers photo and video-editing features, including Makeover Tools and Picture Tubes currently found only in Corel Paint Shop Pro. It also provides options for creating slide shows, including easy video editing and full control over motion effects and transitions, additional project templates, and the Photo Safe Backup System. With Snapfire Plus you can use photo-retouching tools to do things like straightening crooked photos. Photo Doctor lets you know when a photo can be improved, and you can fix colour, brightness and contrast using Quick Fix.

Apple’s Mac Pro

Features: Apple has unveiled the new Mac Pro, with 64-bit desktop workstation featuring two new dual-core Intel Xeon 5100 series processors running at up to 3.0 GHz each with 4 MB of shared L2 cache, and independent 1.33 GHz front-side buses with 667 MHz DDR2 fully-buffered memory and a new system architecture. The Mac Pro also boasts of a 256-bit wide memory architecture.

It features a direct attach storage solution for cable-free, snap-in installation of up to four 500 GB Serial ATA hard drives for a total of 2 TB of internal storage, and supports two optical drives to simultaneously read and/or write to CDs and DVDs. The Mac Pro supports up to four PCI Express graphics cards to drive up to eight displays at once for visualisation and large display walls. 

Other features include three full-length PCI Express expansion slots and one double-wide PCI Express graphics slot to support high-powered, double-wide graphics cards without sacrificing multiple slots.

ZyXel’s VDSL2 switch

Features: ZyXel’s IP-based Discrete Multi-Tone (DMT)-based VDSL2 solution VES-1616F-44/VES-1624F-44 switch comes with a P-872H/P-870MH VDSL2 modem. It is a 16-port/24-port, 1.5U VDSL2 switch providing a maximum of 100 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload bandwidth. It supports IEEE 802.3ad with load distribution control and fail-over recovery, and SNMP and MIBs, both of which can be managed via standards-based management software.

The VDSL2 solution’s rate-limiting feature allows service providers to limit bandwidth on subscriber ports at steps of 64 Kbps. In addition, the multicast VLAN registration (MVR) feature allows the VES-1616F-44/VES-1624F-44 to forward the same video streams to devices in specific VLANs. The product includes a set of configuration and management tools to streamline the administrator’s management effort. ZyXel says that the Web-based management interface offers an easy-to-use platform, independent management, and configuration options. In addition to remote management capabilities, a console port is also available for local management.
