Excellence award for South Indian Bank

The South Indian Bank has won a special award for excellence in banking technology from the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology, the technical arm of the Reserve Bank of India. The award was presented to the bank as a national-level recognition to the contribution it made in the area of information systems security policies and practices. It bagged the award after scrutiny of nominations filed by all categories of banks in India such as public sector banks, private sector banks, foreign banks and co-operative banks.


Venturi’s new facility

Venturi Wireless, a global provider of mobile broadband services optimisation, has announced the opening of a sales and customer support office in Mumbai. The new facility will enable the company to better serve its Indian mobile operator customer base and position it to grow its business with regional operators that are seeking to drive adoption of mobile data services and revenue growth.

The company has experienced growth in the Indian market based on the ability of its Adaptive Airlink Optimisation technology to enhance users’ mobile data services experience.


Cisco ties up with IIT-Roorkee

Cisco Systems has announced its collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, for advanced research on mobile agent technology. As per the tie-up, Cisco will set up state-of-the-art networking infrastructure to facilitate research and development on ‘mobile agents’ in the WAN and wireless environments. The infrastructure will also enable research in the area of mobile security in the delivery of mobile agents.

“We have been committed to the advancement of higher education and cutting-edge research in India. This collaboration is another step in this direction,” said Jangoo Dalal, Senior VP, Enterprise, Cisco, India & SAARC.
