Values: A foundation for success

Vipin Tyagi, President and CEO, Network Programs (India) attributes his success to his value-based upbringing, writes Chirasrota Jena.

Vipin Tyagi, President and CEO, Network Programs (India), is a self-made achiever. He has almost 25 years of experience in the field of computer science and has taken a lead in developing many products for the company. Under his leadership the company has made partnership with US based Interactive Intelligence Inc, a provider of business communications software solutions. Network Programs has also received the certification of BS 7799 for benchmarking Information Security Management System. Tyagi says, “Earning the BS 7799 certification highlights our relentless focus on securing customer data and protecting confidential information. These are the key requirements for global delivery of leading-edge technologies in the networking and electronics space. Now my next focus is to bring innovations in the working environment of Network Programs.” He feels proud to be associated with the recognition that his company has got for the product known as ‘NetRelations’.

Belonging to a small town in Madhya Pradesh, Tyagi believes that it is his value-based education that has helped him reach this level. After completing his engineering degree from IIT Delhi in Computer Science in 1981, Tyagi started his career with Process Control Technology and later joined Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL). In the mean time he also did his management degree. Tyagi was also a core member of C-DoT Labs and part of the design, development and implementation of the Advanced Digital Switching System software.

Later he moved to Siemens Information Systems in 1993. At Siemens he gained experience in the field of telecommunications and also contributed successfully towards growing the business from the outside. He was the architect behind building and marketing X500 based directory inquiry products. Tyagi informs, “During my stint at Siemens I had met the founder members of Network Programs and got the opportunity to join the company for its Indian operations.” He joined Network Programs in 1996. He has worked on different aspects of business and operations support systems (B&OSS) for GSM and landline networks.

Tyagi recollects the transformation of his company and creating large assets. Under his leadership, Network Programs has been able to create 15 products. Tyagi has taken the lead role in customer acquisitions at Network Programs. He feels proud of the acquisition of the biggest customer—MTNL in India. Winning Fortune 500 clients has brought a lot of confidence to grow further.

“Values are the foundation for success and certain amount of belief, character and personality are the basic requirements for a successful career,” he says. Tyagi adds that there is no shortcut to success and you have to take challenges to reach your goals. His mission in life is to make the company a global player and establish a multicultural environment within the organisation.

Australia is his favourite destination. Tyagi loves the country for its calm and quite environment. He feels committed to better the lives of children of leprosy patients. “My passion in life is to build a school for the children of leprosy afflicted people. I will love to spend my free time with them to eradicate leprosy from India,” he says. Tyagi has also supported a local leprosy hospital through generous financial contributions.
