Abhinav Singh reports on HPs annual event: the
OpenCall Insight Days 2006 held at Shanghai, China
Hewlett-Packard recently organised its annual event, the HP OpenCall Insight
Days 2006 at Shanghai in China. The event aimed at bringing together partners,
ISVs and customers, and marked the release of its new offerings that will help
telecom service providers launch next-generation mobile services.
The event was dominated by discussions on the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)
architecture and the OpenCall Media Platform (OCMP) for telecom service providers.
The platform aims at creating and deploying multimedia services incorporating
video, voice and data with options for application, media processing and signalling.
The company announced the setting up of a real-time multimedia service experience
centre in Shanghai, the third such centre after those located in France and
the US.
Said Laurent Valluy, Director, Asia Pacific and Japan, Regional
Operations, HP OpenCall Business Unit, The IMS experience centres are
designed to help operators create a smooth path from their existing networks
to an all IP-based IMS network. The aim of these centres is to provide telecom
operators a hands-on environment for IMS solution-testing, proof-of-concept,
pilot tests as well as business and market analysis for IMS services. Through
these centres, operators will be in a position to learn how to mitigate the
complexities of IMS services interaction and simplifying network and services
management.
During his presentation, Steve Dietch, Worldwide Director, Marketing, HP OpenCall
Business Unit dwelt on how OpenCall will help network and service providers
in having a smooth transition to IMS-based services from their existing networks.
Abdessattar Sassi, Senior Architect, Asia Pacific and Japan, HP OpenCall Regional
Operations, focussed his presentation on the HP IMS experience and discussed
different applications. G V Kumar, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer
of Xius [an ISV] discussed the challenges in launching new services and efficiently
delivering them to subscribers across networks.
