Google to do more than R&D in India
Google has launched its business operations in Delhi and Mumbai. These operations
will add to its two centres in Bangalore and Hyderabad, and are designed to
enable Google to develop business opportunities, provide locally relevant products
and services, and deliver advertising services to its users, advertisers and
partners throughout India.
The market in India is changing rapidly. More people
are coming online as the infrastructure for growth quickly expands, said
Sukhinder Singh Cassidy, Vice-president, Asia Pacific and Latin America operations,
Google Inc.
Gigabyte India strengthens retail presence
Gigabyte Technology is expanding its retail network in the
country for laptops and computer peripherals. Richard Ma, Executive Vice-president,
Gigabyte Technology, recently inaugurated the Gigabyte retail point at CyberCiti,
an IT retail outlet in Mumbai. The Gigabyte retail point showcases digital lifestyle
products such as laptops, smart phones, pen drives, DVD writers and LCD monitors.
Over 50 retail outlets have tied up with Gigabyte, and according to the company,
this number should go up to 100 in the next half year.
Tech university in West Bengal
The Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) will set up a technical university in
West Bengal at an investment of Rs 100 crore. A memorandum of understanding
to this effect was signed between ADAG and the states Higher Education
Department. "The state government will hand over 50 acres of land in Kalyani
to R-ADAG on long-term basis for the project. Dhirubhai Ambani Memorial Trust
will execute and run the project along the lines of the existing DA-IICT Knowledge
Centre in Gandhinagar," Jawahar Sircar, the state's Principal Secretary-Higher
Education Department said.
