GajShield Infotech, a major player in integrated security
solutions, is upbeat after being certified by ICSA Labs for its GajShield SecureGate
Firewall. With the certification the company is planning to introduce its product
range in South-East Asia, South Africa, Latin America, the Middle-East and a
few European countries.
Says Sonit Jain, Director, GajShield, India was never seen as a product
manufacturing country as many companies do not conform to international standards.
For us, the ICSA Labs certification means a great achievement as it gives
assurance to the user community that our product meets the required international
standards.
Security has always been the core concern of all the industry verticals. Jain
feels that as broadband penetration grows, the risk to enterprises will also
grow, hence firewall products will remain in demand. He also believes that they
are better placed than others due to their ability to consolidate various security
features into a single product. GajShield products are used across all industry
verticals, especially BPOs and SMBs.
Jain opines that the requirements of the SMB segment are slightly different
from those of the large enterprise. A few issues that need to be addressed are
the option of scalability and support. In terms of scalability, Jain says that
GajShields SoftAppliance is a better option. If an organisation needs
to scale up its hardware, the older hardware can be re-used and the company
will have to spend only on licences, thus decreasing the cost of scaling.
GajShield SecureGate Firewall is a comprehensive network security product for
mid-sized to large enterprises. It combines a stateful inspection firewall,
VPN gateway, intrusion prevention, gateway virus screening, URL filtering, bandwidth
management and update services. The complete software is bundled on the Linux
operating system.
Comments Jain, It is sad to say that more than 90 percent of people do
not understand what security is. For most of them, security means implementing
a firewall. This is where our role comes in. We train our partners which helps
them understand all the aspects of the security business. India has great potential
and the required technical know-how to emerge as a powerhouse in developing
products and competing with international organisations.
GajShield is clear about its future plans. After the successful certification
of the SecureGate firewall, it plans to launch anti-spam solutions and VPNs
in the international market.
The biggest problem with security products in India is that they are very
costly and complex. We have overcome this problem by introducing security products
that are easy to manage and cost-effective, concludes Jain.
