SiNett and NextHop join hands

SiNett Corporation, developer of silicon and software for next-generation network infrastructures, and NextHop Technologies Inc, a provider of network software solutions, announced a partnership that will enable SiNett's OneEdge-based reference platform, OneRunner, to fully support enterprise-class wireless and wired network access with complete management capabilities.

The combination of SiNett’s OneEdge Switch Processor and NextHop’s Wireless LAN Controller Software (WCS) is designed to address the enterprise requirements for L2/L3 switching and WLAN management—including seamless mobility, enhanced security, quality of service (QoS) and advanced traffic management.

“We are delighted to work with SiNett to help deliver a reference platform that addresses the challenges of WLAN management, enterprise-class mobility, traffic management, security, and QoS for the enterprise network,” states Dennis Tsu, Vice-president of marketing at NextHop.

The OneEdge Switch Processor, in combination with NextHop’s WCS, enables OEMs and ODMs to build integrated wireless and wired equipment quickly and cost-effectively. Moreover, such equipment can be deployed at any layer in the network—at the edge, in the distribution layer, in the enterprise core—and offered at disruptive pricing levels, heralding a new generation of enterprise LAN-switching infrastructure products.

“NextHop is the leader in switching and routing networking solutions, and we’ve recently extended our Dynamic Network Architecture to include WLAN management capabilities. With the integration of our software and SiNett’s OneEdge Switch Processor, network equipment manufacturers can now bring powerful solutions to market at an attractive price,” says Tsu.

A demo version of NextHop’s software will be included on SiNett’s OneEdge-based OneRunner platform, the industry’s first reference design for developing secure WLAN, unified access switches and WLAN appliances. OneRunner is also designed to support different access point architectures such as ultra-thin and thin APs. NextHop’s complimentary WCS software provides advanced security, authentication, mobility, QoS and centralised management for WLAN (802.11) access points.

According to Shrikant Sathe, Co-founder and Vice-president, Marketing & Operations, SiNett, “Our OneEdge technology coupled with NextHop’s WLAN controller software will provide network equipment manufacturers with a truly flexible solution that gives the highest performance levels for wireless and wired applications. This partnership with NextHop is essential as we work to build an ecosystem of partners that provide complementary software and hardware technologies for building unified wireless and wired network infrastructures for the enterprise."
