Samsung takes a big stride in notebooks
Although Samsung entered the Indian notebook market only in 2004, the company has already made its presence felt. According to IDC, Samsung has sold 7,000 units capturing 4.7 and 3.7 percent in the consumer and commercial notebook segments respectively. In terms of value the company stands fifth with 3.9 percent. By volume, Samsung is sixth with 4.9 percent.

LCD monitors: more affordable now
In mid-2004, an entry-level 15-inch LCD monitor was priced at Rs 17,999 due to the high cost of LCD panels, which constitute at least 70-80 percent of the cost of an LCD monitor; this high cost, in turn, was due to the shortage of LCD panels.
