Five Skills

Amol Khale
Consultant-HR
MSSG

Mahindra Special Services Group (MSSG), a division of Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, has helped many organisations de-risk their businesses by improving their information security posture. At MSSG, professionals are involved in challenging work across industry segments. The following are the skills we look for in candidates while hiring.

Domain knowledge: A sound knowledge of the domain with relevant work experience is a must for any candidate. We not only look at the security weaknesses in the technology used, but also at the processes and people, and offer equal opportunity for those with different backgrounds. A sound knowledge of the fundamentals and ability to apply this knowledge to security architecture is what is required.

Analytical skills: To mitigate risks, a thorough diagnosis of the problem is essential. MSSG believes that the ability to solve a problem by performing a root-cause analysis is very important, both for a team lead as well as a team member.

Learning focus: At MSSG, a lot of emphasis is placed on the professional and personal development of the individual. All employees take part in conducting training sessions in their field of expertise. The potential candidate should therefore have the drive for gaining and sharing knowledge.

Communication and soft skills: For being a successful consultant, it is important to be not only a good speaker but also a great listener. Our approach is to clearly understand the pain areas of the client and then develop a solution. The ability to ask the right questions, interpret the information provided, and then present a workable solution is required.

Leadership skills and drive to excel: An ideal candidate should be willing to work in all types of conditions, and should be a great team player. The pride that each team member feels about MSSG and information security should excite the candidate. He must display promising leadership skills by taking responsibility for all failures, but giving credit to the team for all successes. He must believe that excellence is a moving target, and have the necessary drive to achieve it all the time.
