Inc starts adopting inexpensive software suites
Even as Microsoft tries to extend Office in the enterprise,
a host of players offering inexpensive, alternative office
suites are doing well in the Indian market, says Srikanth
RP. Sun Microsystems led the charge with StarOffice and now
Indian players have jumped on the bandwagontwo made-in-India
suites are doing quite well, viz, Shakti and Ankur Office.
Whats
your BI quotient? - [Between
The Bytes]
Is Business Intelligence (BI) relevant to organisations in
India? Now thats a moot question, especially when you
consider that so many of them are still struggling to get
their basic enterprise IT infrastructure in place. Meanwhile,
CIOs of many large corporations tell of shrinking or static
IT budgets; those that are more fortunate can at best hope
for a 3-5 percent annual budget increase. BI thus seems like
a ludicrous luxury for most of corporate India.
