2004 highlights new technologies
The CSI 2004 convention organised by the Computer Society
of India, Mumbai chapter turned out to be a well attended
event. The themes had a good mix of new technologies, applications
and research. While the technology tracks gave in-depth knowledge
on emerging technologies, the technology and industry tracks
gave an insight into technologies along with relevant case
studies.
Office
on the go
Corporate executives like to check their e-mail several times
a day. Despite this, while travelling, one may be unable to
do this and thereby miss out on important messages. Taking
this into account, cellular service providers are making e-mail
available to users on the move. The target segment is corporate
customers and entrepreneurs.
Vision
without execution is hallucination
Citrixs strategy of offering a full-fledged access platform
is in line with the needs of adaptive, mobile enterprises.
Gartner
predicts the exit of three PC vendor biggies
Gartner expects the PC vendor market to experience at least
three lean years after 2005 with three of the top ten vendors
exiting the market by 2007. Says Sujoy Chohan, VP & research
director, Gartner India, Unit growth will fall below
the double-digit rates the market is accustomed to and revenue
growth will come to a standstill.
