LG launches pro servers for SMB segment

LG Electronics India has launched Pro Server—PA105 and PA 110 for the small and medium business (SMB) enterprises. LG Pro Server will provide a complete business server solution with messaging and collaboration, secure Internet access, protected data storage and reliable printing for the SMB segment.

According to R Manikandan, deputy general manager, Product Group Head — IT Products, “We have come up with these servers to cater to the SMB space as we feel that there are lot of companies who need entry-level servers at a affordable price. In future, we will come up with the mid and high range servers as we are sure that this business is on a growth path.” The pro servers are priced between Rs 54,000 to Rs 1.4 lakh.

The Pro Servers come with Intel Pentium 4 processors at 3.0 GHz with hyper threading technology (up to Intel Pentium 4 Extreme edition processor at 3.4 GHz with 2 MB L2 cache) with the Intel E7210P chipset. They also feature 256 MB of memory (PC 3200 — 400 MHz) DDR SDRAM unbuffered DIMM with ECC and have onboard ATI graphics controller with 8 MB video RAM.

The company is expecting to capture 10 per cent market share in the server space by the end of 2005. “We are also planning to streamline our partners and train them substantially, which would help us enhance our reach in the SMB space,” Manikandan sums up.
