Satcom's security solution for SMEs

Satcom Infotech, a solution partner for Sophos security solution in India has been focusing on larger corporates such as Himalaya Drugs, Godrej, Nirma, Manipal Group and Salgoukar. It now plans to target Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The company offers a series of security solutions under the brand name of Sophos' Sophos Small Business Suite, Sophos Anti-Virus Small Business Edition and Sophos PureMessage Small Business Edition.

According to a survey conducted by Sophos, nearly 4,000 SMEs revealed that 80 percent of companies found that rising levels of spam had made them less productive. Only 28 percent had an anti-spam solution in place.

C Ramesh, manager, business development, Satcom Infotech says, "We were focusing only on larger corporates and never addressed 5-10 user license SME market. Before entering to SME, we conducted a research and found that the SMEs were addressing to the security issues to a larger extent." The need of quick update and support and less manual interface triggered Satcom to come up with a series Sophos security solution for the SME segment. Five-user licenses of Sophos Small Business Suite, Sophos Anti-Virus Small Business Edition and Sophos PureMessage Small Business Edition are priced at 15,960, 9,960 and 9,960 respectively.

The Sophos Small Business Suite and Sophos Anti-Virus Small Business Edition provides anti-virus and anti-spam protection are ideal for Windows or Macintosh desktops and can used for file servers and email servers. The solution offers a simple management console and automatic updating. While, Sophos PureMessage Small Business Edition configures spam filtering with simple drop-down menus. It also provides at-a-glance reports of email traffic.

Satcom has created a separate channel partners to address the SME market. It has tied up with over 40 channel partners for selling Sophos security solutions. 'With the unlimited 24X7 support that comes as a complementary offer along with Sophos security solutions, we expect more customers for Sophos. We also want to create awareness among small businesses about the importance to have security solutions,' adds Ramesh.
