Zenith, Microsoft, Intel and Samsung tie up

Leading IT majors Zenith, Microsoft, Intel and Samsung have announced the launch of Multiply, a solution targeted at the SME market. The package has been offered at a special 'no profit, no loss' price as a contribution by the companies to the SME segment.

Instead of small businesses buying different hardware and software products separately and then
integrating them, now they can opt for Multiply, a combination of world-class products from the leading IT companies

Although small and medium enterprises in India comprise the largest sector, it has been largely untapped by IT companies due to the complexity of the market. To understand this market, Intel, Microsoft and Zenith had separately carried out extensive research on the various types of SMEs in India and their needs.

Explains Raj Saraf, CMD, Zenith, 'Instead of small businesses buying different hardware and software products separately and then integrating them, now they can opt for Multiply, a combination of world-class products from the leading IT companies. So except for the space, furniture, telephone and Internet connection, it offers all that is required to start or expand the existing IT set-up.'

Multiply is said to be the only IT solution for SMEs that is a plug-and play set-up. The package includes:

  • One Zenith SMB Server with Intel Pentium 4 processor 3 GHz with HT Technology, 256 MB RAM, 80 GB Serial ATA HD, CD-writer, 15' monitor
  • Three Zenith Premium PCs (as workstations or clients or nodes) powered with Intel Celeron D Processor, 128 MB RAM, 40 GB HD, 15' monitor, and pre-loaded/bundled with Windows XP Home Microsoft Office (Word 2003, Excel 2003, Outlook 2003)
  • Microsoft Small Business Server 2003, Windows Server 2003, Exchange Server 2003, Internet E-mail and Messaging Solution, Windows SharePoint Services
  • Samsung MFP having laser printer, colour scanner, digital copier. For networking, a 10/100 Hub/Switch and standard-length LAN cabling.

'We have identified the pulse of the market, and are giving them what they desire. Multiply will be the one-stop IT shop for the SMEs, and will offer a hassle-free solution for a full-fledged business management framework,' says Saraf.

Multiply will be sold at around Rs 1.5 lakh, and can be expanded according to the needs of the SME up to a 75-user environment. Hardware and software upgrade options are available upon customer request and as per requirements.

The target audience for Multiply are start-ups, small businesses, distribution and retail organisations, malls, polyclinics, restaurants, hotels and travel agencies. Other segments targeted include legal and accounting firms, design houses and architects.
