Qualcomm opens R&D centre, acquires Spike Techs arm
Qualcomm has launched its research and development (R&D)
centre in Hyderabad as part of its plan to enhance its engineering workforce
worldwide. The centre will support CDMA chipset development and play a key role
in expanding CDMA technology in India and other countries. The R&D centre
will work as a part of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT) to develop software,
digital signal processing firmware and hardware development, technical customer
support in addition to design and testing. The R&D centre is located at
Mindspace in Cyberabad. In another development, the company has acquired a semiconductor
design centre of Spike Technologies (located in Bangalore) for a consideration
of $19 million.
