Colorchips takes up Rs 10 cr expansion

Circuit EC / Hyderabad

Colorchips India, the Hyderabad-based 2D and 3D animation software services provider, has drawn up a Rs 10 crore expansion plan and is inducting a few hundred animators to meet demand in the animation segment. The company is expanding its wings and setting up training divisions in Andhra Pradesh and other metros in the country. The company has launched ColorChips Animation Training Centre and training programmes have been custom-designed to provide training in the entire range of 2D and 3D animation and specific module-based short-term courses. Demand can be gauged from the fact that about 80 Philipinos are working with ColorChips for an overseas assignment and the total headcount of the company currently stands at about 500.

According to Dr Sudish S. Rambhotla, CMD of ColorChips, “We are planning to open another centre in the country. The demand for animation is increasing, but the required manpower is not available to that extent. To overcome a trained manpower shortage, we are strengthening the education and training division, and expanding the Hyderabad centre. To set up training divisions in other metros, we will team up with local partners and at a later stage these training centres will be converted into satellite production centres for the company.”
