CEOs call for police-IT industry collaboration

Participants at the Cyber Safety Week (August 18-23) event organised by Nasscom and Mumbai Police called for closer collaboration between the police and the IT industry to end cyber crime. M Damodaran, chairman, UTI said that the initiative (Cyber Safety Week) raised the need to train the bar and the bench that will translate into speedier conviction. Police commissioner A N Roy, DCP, Enforcement Pradnya N Sarvade, SBI chairman A K Purwar and Anand G Mahindra, vice chairman and MD, Mahindra & Mahindra attended the inauguration function.

Seminars were arranged for school and college students to give them an opportunity to upgrade themselves in the latest technology. These students will be part of eSecurity clubs that will interact with the Mumbai Cyber Lab. The meet of the CIOs and the Mumbai cyber cell (organised by the Computer Society of India) discussed issues issue that included—should security certifications be made compulsory for security professionals, are lawyers adequately trained to handle cyber aspects, strengthening of IPR laws and enforcement.
