Olympic Series: Mobile Phones

SAMSUNG India Electronics has launched three models—SGH D410, SGH E800 and SGH E810—of its Olympic Series Mobile Phones.

The D410 has a 2-inch wide screen, a 262 K colour TFT LCD high-resolution screen with a built-in VGA camera. The phone incorporates an e-mail client, enabling users to send and receive e-mails online with an e-mail storage capacity of 1 MB. Further, the D410 offers a choice of 64-chord polyphonic melodies. The E800, with a built-in high resolution VGA camera with flash and a 65 K colour TFT LCD of high resolution, enables one to shoot the clearest of images even when in motion. The phone has a Photo Clip feature, which displays the caller’s picture as well as the name. An integrated speakerphone with Echo Cancellation Technology enables one to speak freely while on the move. The E 810 has a 180-degree rotating camera with video and a 128*160 pixels TFT LCD that supports 30-second video clips in the MJpeg format. The phone also supports MMS (Multimedia Messaging System) through an internal antenna.

Iomega

REV 35 Gigabyte FireWire Drive

IOMEGA has launched the FireWire version of the Iomega REV drive in India. The drive has a read-write performance of up to 25MB/sec with 35 GB of storage capacity on each disk. For Mac users, the drive is a 6-pin FireWire 400 device that supports Mac OS X v10.1.5 and above. For PC users, supported operating systems include Microsoft Windows XP home and professional, and Windows Server 2003 standard edition. Each drive has a software suite that provides for scheduled or automatic file backup, full system backup and recovery, and software-based compression.

SMC

1RU 48-Port TigerSwitch

SMC Networks has announced its newest Gigabit backbone switch, the TigerSwitch 10/100/1000 48-Port Managed Switch (SMC8648T). The new switch has 48 fixed 10/100/1000 ports, four of which can be upgraded with optional mini GBIC expansion slots for fibre connections. It can move data at speeds up to 96 Gbps.

In addition to RADIUS, 802.1x, SSH and SSL for security, the new switch offers complete Layer2/3/4 switching with traffic prioritisation, including DSCP-based CoS, TCP/UDP Port-based CoS, and port and protocol-based VLANs. It also offers rate limiting Simple Network Time Protocol and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol which are configurable through a Command Line Interface.

THE Zion RamBo X-Disk is a portable USB2.0-compliant accessory from Israel.
