Reliance Infocomm and MCI launch India’s first MPLS global VPN solution

Circuit EC / Mumbai

Reliance Infocomm has launched India’s first MPLS Global VPN service in association with MCI. The agreement lets Reliance Infocomm offer its business customers global MPLS-based VPN connections by leveraging MCI’s global network infrastructure. IT-enabled services, business process outsourcing and multinational companies are the target segments. Under the terms of the agreement, MCI is installing MPLS network nodes in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore that will let it deliver seamless access to its global private IP network throughout India using connections to the nation wide Reliance Infocomm MPLS VPN network. The global reach of the MPLS-based MCI Private IP network is undergoing rapid expansion globally and will have a presence in 48 countries by end 2004.

“This partnership will extend India’s reach across the world, enabling Indian transnational corporations to get the benefit of end-to-end VPN connectivity for their businesses between India and the world. It will also benefit MCI by opening up India’s expanding market to its global customers,” said B D Khurana, group president, Reliance Infocomm.

“Together, this relationship will benefit both companies by efficiently extending the reach of our respective MPLS VPN networks with maximum speed and minimal capital investment,” said Seth Blumenfeld, president of MCI International.
