Avocent targets BPOs in India

Avocent, a US-based supplier of KVM (keyboard, video and mouse) switching and network connectivity solutions plans to focus on the Indian BPO industry. Avocent’s software management and KVM over IP switching systems provide local and remote access and control of multiple servers from a single console. The growth of data centres in India has led to a growth in server deployment. Says Sudhir Seth, managing director, Avocent India, “The need for automation is expected to go up dramatically with the increase in the number of servers.” Avocent claims to have a 50 percent share of the global market for Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) technology and it believes that the recent merger with OSA technologies will add to its sales growth. Avocent’s solutions enable complete automated monitoring and management of trouble shooting and patching functions.
