Almasa distribution enters India

Circuit EC / Bangalore

Dubai-based Almasa Distribution, an IT distribution company has expanded its Asian presence with its entry into the Indian market. Initially Almasa would be distributors for Maxtor’s products in India, which includes hard disc products such as SCSI, and ATA disc drives. The company is in talks with three more product vendors for distributing their products in India in the next few months. Almasa has opened its head office in Delhi and plans to open sales offices in Mumbai and Bangalore shortly. The company would increase its sales staff to 15 to handle its Indian operations [currently Almasa has two]. It is in the process of appointing two to three regional players to cater to Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.

Sandeep Ramani, country manager of Almasa-India said that Almasa had already signed up with some partners in major metros who will import Maxtor products directly from Singapore. He adds that Almasa had already started supplying major OEMs, system integrators and value-added resellers in the country. The company has embarked on channel road shows in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore to announce its partnership with Maxtor and identify channel players for tie-ups.
