Disha bets big on outsourced testing

SRIKANTH RP / Mumbai

Achyut Godbole

DISHA Technologies, a player focused solely on the software testing market, is seeing huge demand for its outsourced testing services. This can be seen from the fact that the company’s manpower has gone from 220 to 400 in a span of eight months. The growth is expected to continue since Disha plans to increase its headcount to more than 550 people by the end of the current year. Over the last four years, the company has grown at an average rate of 132 percent year-on-year. Software testing is a huge market estimated to be close to $13 billion, with the market for outsourced testing services contributing about $3 billion of that figure.

Says Achyut Godbole, executive director, Disha, “Most global product companies are faced with challenges related to the timely delivery of their products with quality (being maintained). With India becoming a big R&D base for product development, it makes sense for global product organisations to outsource their independent software verification requirements to independent vendors such as Disha.”

The company currently derives the majority of its revenue from application- and system-level testing for product companies. Geographically, the company derives the bulk of its revenue from the US market, but it is planning to build alliances in Japan and Europe.
