UbiNetics increases its R&D strength

UbiNetics a provider of 3G (third generation) wireless technology plans to strengthen its Indian presence. It will invest Rs 125 crore in research and development. UbiNetics plans to hire 150 skilled software developers in India during the next eighteen months. The company is also setting up an academy, which will conduct monthly seminars by known personalities in the wireless domain. This academy will aim at increasing awareness about 3G wireless technology in India.

Bjorn Krylander, CEO, UbiNetics said, “We are already doing more than 50 percent of our protocol development in India and nearly 40 percent of our R&D efforts are based in Bangalore and therefore the investment is justified. UbiNetics has already licensed its protocol software to many mobile phone manufacturers and semiconductor companies. In the next few years we would expect a complete shift to 3G as the mainstay of the mobile handset market.”

UbiNetics supplies 3G, 2.5G and 2G IP and HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) a protocol software solutions for chipsets and terminal manufacturers. In India UbiNetics has a 150 strong development team.
