Seagate announces eleven new products

Circuit EC / Mumbai

Sharad Srivastava

To improve its marketshare in almost all the major disc drive market segments, Seagate has announced eleven new products for different categories which include consumer electronics, notebook and desktop computers, enterprise servers and corporate data centres. These new disc drives include the world’s first one-inch 5GB hard drive, solutions in 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch form factors, Serial ATA, Serial-attached SCSI and Fibre Channel interfaces, with speeds of up to 15,000 RPM and storage capacities of up to 500GB. While India is still a nascent market for hard disc drives used in consumer devices, Seagate is trying to grow the market by talking to different OEM players for bundling Seagate’s drives with their products. Sharad Srivastava, country, Seagate India said, “While the traditional market is still the desktop, in the future we will see hard disc drives moving into bigger markets such as consumer electronics and gaming.”
