GECE aims at Rs 10 cr turnover

Global Energy Consulting Engineers (GECE), a Hyderabad -based IT solutions
and consultancy services provider in the energy sector is expanding its operations.
It hopes to attain a turnover of Rs 10 crore in the current financial year.
As part of its expansion plan, the company is adding 100 people this year to
the present 50. It has invested about Rs 2 crore to date and it will make need-based
investments as it goes ahead.
GECE is diversifying into geographical information systems (GIS) such as cadastral
mapping and base map preparation. The company recently acquired an order for
data conversion and interfacing of legacy systems in real estate management
from a US partner. The project is being executed and additional projects of
the same nature are in the pipeline.
GECE offers turnkey solutions for the entire business cycle of power transmission
and distribution to the end customer in the areas of design and development
of GIS and global positioning system (GPS) for power utilities. It makes application
software for distribution, network analysis, optimisation, planning and design.
It is also working on solutions that will enable automatic meter reading and
computerised billing, data conversion, migration and integration with legacy
systems.
Dr M V Krishna Rao, director, GECE said, “We have 15 products that cater
to all aspects of utility management and have been developed in-house and patented.
These are broadly categorised as technical, business and real-time applications.
GECE has partnerships with Oracle, HP, Sun, and ESRI. We want to be the ultimate
destination for IT solutions and consultancy services for the utility sector.”
The company has been associated with projects including the
integration of GECE’s distribution automation packages with ABB’s
SPIDER SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) for Hyderabad, GIS &
Trouble Call Management Proje- ct, the Vadodara and Bhavnagar GIS project, the
TCM Project in Vadodara, feasibility study for implementation of CRM in rural
areas for USAID (US Agency for International Development), and the Andhra Pradesh
Energy Efficiency Project, which is funded by the DFID (Department for International
Development).
