Rediff.com launches rediffmail with spam shield, multilingual mail capability
Rediff.com India announced the re-launch of paid and free
Rediffmail services with enhanced security and feature-rich add-ons. The flagship
email service is secured with an exclusive spam shield and enables users to
write emails in 11 Indian languages. Further, free email users can now buy stand
alone add-ons such as extra storage, POP3 access and ‘SMS packs’
that let users send SMS from their free Rediffmail service to mobile numbers
in India and the United States. Users can also upgrade to the premium, paid
for Rediffmail Plus service that has been refurbished with a 30MB briefcase
and a ‘no account expiration policy’ in an advertising-free environment.
The Rediffmail Spam Shield is an extensively-tested spam
filter featuring multiple-standard spam detection and elimination methods which
check for known spamming techniques to keep unwanted mails from reaching a subscriber’s
inbox. If some unsolicited mails with new patterns do reach users, then these
mails can be stopped with the new ‘This is Spam’ functionality.
The spam shield software improves by learning from spam mail patterns of users,
thereby eventually filtering the message and restricting it from reaching the
user’s inbox.
Rediffmail provides users the option to write mails in Indian
languages with special emoticons and a rich-text facility. The new features
include a print-mail facility and an automatic reply option among others. Highlighting
the importance of Rediffmail Spam Shield, Ajit Balakrishan, chairman & CEO,
Rediff.com said, “Spam is a growing menace to email users around the world.
We have improved our offerings to make sure that Rediffmail subscribers are
protected against unwanted emails.”
