Sierra Atlantic to have campus in Hyderabad, to expand to other cities

Srinivasa Rao Dasari / Hyderabad

US-based application management service provider Sierra Atlantic has drawn up plans to set up its own campus in Hyderabad at an investment of $4-5 million. The new campus is expected to be ready by 2005 and will accommodate about 2,000 employees. The company is planning to expand to other cities like Bangalore, Chennai and Pune. It has decided to set up one centre in one of the three identified cities this year with a headcount of 100-150 expandable to 200. The present headcount at the Hyderabad facility is 650 and will be about 1,000 by the end of this year. The company plans to add 1,000 employees every year.

The company is also looking at expanding by acquiring smaller companies with revenues in the range of $5-10 million. It prefers to acquire companies that are involved in the SAP segment.

Sierra Atlantic provides a full portfolio of enterprise application management services, right from designing and building to deploying, integrating, and managing applications in areas like manufacturing, process manufacturing and the financial segments.

“At present, we have two facilities in the city and those would be merged into the proposed new campus. So far, we have developed five products in the SCM segment and we see a good potential in the packaged enterprise application market. We are expecting a 50 percent growth rate in India for this segment this year,” said Sarath Sura, managing director, Sierra Atlantic Software Services.

The growing importance of offshore in the global packaged software segment is also one of the main reasons for the expansion plan taken up by Sierra Atlantic. Till the recent past, the packaged software segment was primarily restricted to onsite consultancy only. Sierra Atlantic foresees huge potential in the manufacturing segment for packaged software.
