Digital future to be unveiled at BroadcastAsia2004

BroadcastAsia2004, an Asian electronic media event, is set to play a bigger role as the region prepares itself for a wave of digitisation in the industry. To be held at the Singapore Expo between June 15-18, 2004 BroadcastAsia2004 will see broadcasters and industry experts from around the world convening to explore the latest electronic media initiatives, ranging from media content production to management and delivery.

Leading companies from the professional audio, computer graphics, cable and satellite industries will be showcasing their latest products and services at this event. This year, the organisers expect over 600 exhibiting companies, including industry players such as Harris Corporation, Leitch, Microsoft, Panasonic, Pinnacle, Pioneer, TandbergTV, Vinten and Quantel amongst others.

Increased competition and rapid technological advancements has led to the proliferation of new services such as cable television and Internet-enabled television, which are based on digitisation. Convergence between the telecommunications, computer and broadcast industries is also occurring. These developments have triggered a massive transformation in the traditional broadcast industry as broadcasters and players seek to improve their services and competitive ability.

Recognising this, BroadcastAsia2004 will, for the first time, include a Digital Cinema Day on June 16. Facility visits to one of Eng Wah’s digital cinemas at Suntec city and movie screenings are just a few of the many exciting activities lined up on Digital Cinema Day. Visitors can also attend important talks at the Asian D-Cinema Summit on June 16.
