Allied Telesyn in expansion mode, appoints India head

CIRCUIT EC / New Delhi

ALLIED Telesyn has announced expansion plans for its operations in India. The networking company will be expanding business in cities like Bangalore and Chennai by setting up offices there. In the wake of its plans to enhance its presence in India, Allied has appointed Rajesh Sahore as its country manager. As part of its strategy, the company will be focusing on the enterprise market and expanding its channel network with the appointment of a national distributor. With this, Allied Telesyn is aiming to be among the top three network solution vendors in India.

According to Ming Yang Fung, deputy managing director, Allied Telesyn International (Asia), the setting up of offices in major Indian cities affirms the company’s commitment to India and its interest in developing closer business relationships with customers here. “We believe that our existing and future customer relationships in this expanding market merit a stronger local presence and more direct support from us.” Allied already has two offices in Mumbai (India liaison office) and Delhi.

As part of its expansion plan, the company intends to focus on the enterprise segment. Under the current set-up, its customer base is concentrated in the SME market segment with around 90 percent channel and 10 percent enterprise focus. This is likely to change to 60 percent channel and 40 percent enterprise with the change in business plans.

In terms of vertical segments, the key target markets will be government, education, banking & finance and ITeS. According to Sahore, in order to cater to large enterprises, the company will be evolving a direct touch model. The channel set-up will also be enhanced with the addition of a countrywide distributor. It is presently in talks with various players; a final decision will be taken soon. A national distributor will be able to provide a pan-India reach to Allied’s product portfolio, as well as a strong reseller and system integrator base. The company already has two regional distributors in India.

The company has recently launched its business partner programme called Alliances, which provides value-added services to help its partners develop their business. Under the programme there will be three alliance partnership levels—Alliances Associate Partner, Alliances Silver Partner and Alliances Gold Partner. The expansion blueprint also covers building support infrastructure across geographies through Net.Cover, which is a flexible set of service and support programmes. It is intended to help safeguard the integrity of networked data, ensure network uptime, and maximise productivity.
