NEC
HT1000
NEC has launched its latest projector, the HT1100, which is an upgraded version
of the HT1000. The HT1100 provides a list of new features including SweetVision,
a technology which utilises the characteristics of the human eye to make shades
sharper and detail clearer. The HT1100 boasts a high contrast ratio of 3500:1
and has employed an advanced specification 12deg DMD chip for enhanced picture
quality. The 6-segment primary colour wheel enhances colour reproduction and
presents natural skin colour.
Superb black levels are achieved with a 10-bit Video Decoder LSI, another technology
newly developed by NEC for the HT1100. The new graphical user interface on screen
display (GUI OSD) also makes the HT1100 very easy to set and use. Whisper quiet
29dB has been achieved with a newly developed motor and fan control while the
in-built audio features a 2W + 2W stereo with 3D sound.
Equipped with the HDCP (high bandwidth digital content protection system, compatible
DVI (digital visual interface) and a PC card viewer supporting digital camera
images, the HT1100 supports a wide variety of entertainment multimedia.
Besides connectivity with all video sources from PCs to video, the HT1100 is
also ready for the latest high bandwidth DVD players using DVI digital input
with HDCP decryption built in.
For use in home and public areas, the HT1100 has 3D geometric image correction,
making installations easier while ensuring that the video picture stays perfectly
square even if the projector location is not ideal. Sophisticated control of
home cinema or commercial systems employing LAN network is also possible.
The HT1100 can correct trapezoidal image distortions projected from an angled
position (3D Reform), which means greater freedom in setting up the projector.
Simply set the four corners of the distorted image and square the picture using
the remote control. The 3D Reform correction is an electrical correction and
therefore may cause some slight deteriorations of the luminance and/or picture
quality. The projector is priced at Rs 2,43,000 in India.
Features:
- NEC Iris lever technology for 3500:1 contrast ratio
- NEC SweetVision dynamic contrast technology
- DVI-D input for high bandwidth digital DVD viewing
- HDCP DVI decryption built-in
- 3D Reform geometric correction for flexible installation
- Global video standards compatible PAL, SECAM, NTSC
- Connections for component, video, s-video and DVI sources
- Wired LAN operation with use of a LAN card

Asustek
QuieTrack
ASUSTeK Computer has recently
introduced the ASUS QuieTrack optical drive series. Incorporating three advanced
features, the all-new QuieTrack drives, as the name suggests, provide a quiet,
distraction-free environment. The first two models of the series are the CD-S520/A4
52X CD-ROM and CRW-5232AS CD Rewriter. They are the worlds quietest optical
drives operating at 39dB while competing products remain at approximately 50dB.
Noise and vibration are two major headaches users encounter when using a high-speed
drive. Airflow Field Modification (AFFM) is designed to change the uneven airflow
field inside the drive because even pressure distribution leads to quieter and
more stable operation. The cutting-edge technology is designed to minimise vibration
caused by spindle motors, components and PC cases. The patented Double Dynamic
Suspension System II (DDSSII) stabilise the pick-up head, both horizontally
and vertically, achieving more precise tracking while reducing vibration and
noise caused by high-revolution motors.
Asuss Smart Speed technology intelligently adjusts reading speeds according
to different applications, providing quieter operation when speed demand is
low and lengthening the lifecycle of your drive.
Features:
- DDSS II: double dynamic suspension system
- AFFM: airflow field modification
- Live firmware update tool
- FlextraLink buffer underrun errors prevention technology
- FlextraSpeed optimal writing speed adjustment
- Compact drive
- Constant angular velocity (CAV) writing strategy
- High-speed digital audio extraction (max. 52x) and VCD
- Latest Nero software bundle
- Vertical/ horizontal mounting available
- Unique dust-proof and noise-control design

Hitachi
Deskstar 7K400
Hitachi Global
Storage Technologies has announced the worlds highest capacity 3.5-inch
ATA hard drive, the 400GB Deskstar 7K400. The new drive has been designed for
audio video (AV) and ATA nearline environments, where large capacities and a
lower per-gigabyte cost are key requirements. A new industry-standard AV feature
set makes the drive well suited for use in high-end digital video recorders
(DVRs) that are designed to record substantial amounts of high-quality digital
programming.
Hitachi has designed the Deskstar 7K400 to address the growing demand for high-capacity
DVRs. The drive is the first to include a new industry-standard AV feature,
known as streaming command set. The AV feature is designed to enhance streaming
functionality in digital video applications. Streaming Command Set integration
optimises the drives for storing and retrieving digital video content on a DVR.
Hard drives are key to enabling technology that will drive future growth of
the DVR market. In addition to its substantial capacity, the Deskstar 7K400s
7,200 rpm performance is also well-suited to meet the rigorous demands of HDTV
recording.
The Deskstar 7K400 provides enough capacity to store 400 hours of standard TV
programming, 45 hours of HDTV programming and more than 6,500 hours of high
quality digital music.
The Deskstar 7K400 is ideally suited for nearline storage and other low I/O
applications. The drives provide superior capacity, data access times and transfer
rates at a comparable cost to that of tape or optical solutions. The new drives
will ship with Parallel ATA and Serial ATA (SATA) interfaces.
Several Deskstar 7K400 design attributes combine to protect customer data and
increase capacity, while maintaining Hitachis award-winning performance.
Among these features are a new anti-rebound actuator latch and rotational vibration
safeguard technology (RVS). The RVS technology is used to ensure drive performance
in high rotational vibration environments, where there are multiple drives in
a single enclosure. The Deskstar 7K400 also features a spindle motor that is
used in enterprise-class hard drives.
The Deskstar 7K400 is backed by Hitachis renowned compatibility testing
labs and worldwide distribution support. The drive has an 8 MB-buffer and carries
a three-year warranty.
