Accenture to up headcount in India

Accenture is gearing up to ramp up its headcount in India from 4,300 to 10,000
employees by end-2004. The additional hires in India would work in the areas
of consulting, software services, BPO and call centre operations. India is Accentures
largest offshore hub among its 40 global delivery centres. The company has 83,000
employees in 48 countries across the globe. Accentures Indian delivery
centres in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore serve 80 customers worldwide. In India
Accenture has serviced 200 Indian clients to date, including Hindalco, Tata
Motors, Dabur, Godrej, Ranbaxy and Maruti. At present it has 25 active clients
in the country.
Martin I Cole, managing partner, outsourcing, Accenture said, India is
an integral part of Accentures global sourcing strategy and strategic
delivery model, which enables Accenture to provide services from multiple geographical
locations with round-the-clock coverage. Accenture has been present in
India since 1987. Its outsourcing business stood at $3.6 billion and is growing
at a rate of 30 percent annually.
