NetDevices to ramp up presence in India

Circuit EC / Bangalore

NetDevices a US-based Silicon Valley start-up focusing on networking solutions is all set to expand its operations in India. It will be ramping up its presence to reach a headcount of 60 people by July 2004. The major chunk of recruitment will comprise specialists in embedded systems, Internet working protocols, network management and network security domains. NetDevices currently has about five people in India and half-a-dozen people in the US.

NetDevices would be setting up its core R&D team in Bangalore at a 6,500 square feet facility and would be coming out with a networking product by July 2004. The company has an 8,500 square feet facility at Sunnyvale, West California in the US. It will also scout for system integrators and distribution partners for the new product that it plans to launch. NetDevices, which kicked off operations in July this year has received $15 million in funding from four investors, who include JumpStartUp, Comventure, Colombia Capital and Artimen ventures.

Seenu Banda, CEO and president of NetDevices said that the company is evaluating prospective customers for the still-to-be developed networking product with remote management capabilities and is planning six pilot projects in the first quarter of 2004 before actually launching it.
