Eclipse Systems teams up with Jesta, Canada
Gaurav Patra / New Delhi
Eclipse Systems, an enterprise solutions provider for
supply chain management systems for manufacturers, distribution centres and
service organisations, has recently signed a software license and service agreement
with Canada-based Jesta Inc. (earlier Essentus Inc.). Jesta has over 30 years
of experience in delivering IT solutions to the apparel, footwear, and soft
goods industries.
We will provide our experience in software development
services to Jesta and its customers. This is a part of our strategy to focus
more on markets like the US and Canada, said Dr Sharad Singhal, CEO, Eclipse
Systems. Eclipse has expertise in application and systems programming, e-commerce
and multimedia applications development. Apparel is one of the major focus areas
for the company.
Warehousing is another key focus area for the company.
Realising the future importance of an affordable, feature-rich, easy-to-use
warehouse inventory management system, we have decided to enter this market
with our product called Distribution Centre Management System (DCMS),
said Dr Singhal. DCMS forms part of the supply chain management system and incorporates
functions like receipt, quality verification, location, pulling, picking, checking,
shipping, billing, customs documentation, inventory management, tracking and
reporting. It is an enterprise-oriented application designed to track the activities
performed in a distribution centre and provides automated solutions for all
the operations needed for efficient functioning.
DCMS fits neatly into other enterprise applications
that may have been employed by the client. It is an application that forms part
of the supply chain process and manages the handling of inventory in a very
efficient way within the DC/warehouse. It also incorporates features that identify
functions to be performed by managers or supervisors separately, thus eliminating
chances of wrong data entry.
- Importing in-transit information: DCMS captures the in-transit information
received from manufacturing units/vendors prior to physical receipt
of goods or stock units, such as cartons of similar goods.
- Receipt: It captures information about receipt of stock units based
on in-transit information.
- Spot-checking: It enables random selection of stock units after receipt
from manufacturing units/vendors for spot-checking (physical verification
for quantity and quality). The results of spot-checking are noted and
a review of such results enables policy decisions about the reliability
of the supplier and extent of spot-checking required in such cases to
be taken. Also helps in improving accuracy of the receipt shipment.
- Locating: DCMS facilitates stock units not immediately required for
shipping or supply to be placed or located in specified inventory areas
indicated.
- Pulling: DCMS assists and guides pulling of stock units from specified
inventory areas.
- Pick slip Creation: DCMS enables import of information if a third-party
system receives customer orders and splits them into pick slips for
withdrawal of stock units from shelf area.
- Packing: DCMS enables verification of stock units picked by the pickers
and packed into cartons.
- Shipping: DCMS captures shipping related information about stock
units being shipped, or dispatched. The shipment could be via Bill of
Lading or via UPS/RPS.
- Export: DCMS enables information pertaining to receipt of stock units
by the third party.
- Returns: DCMS enables handling of returns received from customers.
- Reports: It provides large number of reports to give complete visibility
on the activities happening in the distribution centres.
