Aventail opens R&D centre

Aventail Corporation, a SSL VPN provider, has opened an R&D centre in Bangalore. The centre will have a strength of 75 by the end of 2004. The centre would be Aventail's first outside Seattle in the US. Aventail is also planning to invest $5 million into this centre over the next three years and is scouting for Value Added Resellers (VARs) in India. Evan Kaplan, president and CEO of Aventail Corporation says, “We are looking for a strong partner in the network and security space with a network of offices across India. We are in the process of talking to a couple of people and will soon appoint one. This investment will help us take advantage of the SSL VPN market, which is expected to grow to $1 billion by 2005.”

The Indian R&D centre would work on the Aventail EX-1500 product and technology platform. At the global level Aventail would invest in expanding VARs in the US, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Some of Aventail's customers include the likes of Sanyo and Pepsi.
