Neilsoft launches advanced CAD/CAM app

Chitra Padmanabhan / Mumbai

Neilsoft has recently launched QEdifice—an e-collaboration tool for engineering defect lifecycle management. Through this software, companies can detect any defects that may have occurred in the product lifecycle and correct the same. The company, specialising in CAD/CAM and engineering design solutions, has developed solutions in this area since 1993.

Surendra N Agarwal

E-collaboration means that the design team can discuss design features online, even when they are based in remote locations. For instance, if a product does not function as planned in the design stage, the software can accurately trace the area of defect and offer immediate correction. The defect can either be a design-related defect or could have occurred later at the production or the execution stage. Depending on the same, the team can look at the fail-safe measures that can be implemented. “Defect lifecycle management is one of the key areas that can help speed up work processes in the organisation. The product also has certain features that can help prevent errors proactively,” says Surendra N Agarwal, president and chief operating officer, Neilsoft. QEdifice has mark-up and red lining technologies in order to help designers make necessary changes while they are collaborating online. Changes in the document can only be made by the person authorised to do so and there are various version control facilities, which cannot be tampered with.

Almost all companies regularly carry out redesigning of their products in order to add better features, etc. These changes are primarily done through CAD/CAM by working on various designing options. QEdifice has in-built Knowledge Management tools that can highlight the possible defects, which can occur while the product is being redesigned. A repository of earlier defects, can be assessed through intelligent search technologies and a re-analysis can be carried out.
