Juniper Networks opens technical centre in Bangalore

Circuit EC / Bangalore

Juniper Networks has opened a technical centre in India. The company has also announced the expansion of its technical certification programme (JNTCP) in the country. The technical centre, Juniper’s first in the Asia-Pacific region, will have 27 people who will concentrate on software development and systems testing. The centre’s laboratory will support Juniper Networks’ product development by testing systems for the company’s routing solution.

Juniper Networks would be appointing a certified training partner (yet to be identified) in India to extend training and certification. To date, Indian engineers have had access to the first two of four tiers of the JNTCP. The expanded Indian programme will make all four tiers available and provide classroom-based training in a laboratory environment.

Ashok Krishnamurthi, executive vice-president, Product Development, Juniper Networks said, “We have customers in India ranging from incumbent carriers to private operators and Internet data centres and from mobile service providers to Internet service providers. By training IP professionals and providing sophisticated in-country laboratory facilities, we hope to contribute significantly in the future of India’s IP infrastructure.”

The $500 million US firm, which kicked off its Indian operations in July 2000, has 19 customers in India, including BSNL, Data Access, BSES Telecom, Dishnet DSL and HCL Infinet.
