eScan

MicroWorld Technologies has announced its free eScan anti-virus toolkit utility to diagnose whether a computer has been infected by a virus. The tool cleans registry and other system areas of the damage that a virus could have wreaked.
The toolkit utility checks running processes in memory, internal operating system folders and hidden areas for viruses and informs the user about the same.

Other than this the toolkit checks the system for illegal dialers, which could be making ISD calls without the user’s knowledge. The tool also informs the users of any background sniffers or tools running on the computer without the user’s knowledge.

Micro Ras

Micro Technologies India recently launched a unique software called Micro Remote Access Security System (Micro Ras). Micro Ras is capable of accessing appliances from any part of the world through SMS messaging from a mobile phone or personal computer. In case you are miles away from home and it suddenly strikes you that you forgot to switch off the air conditioner at home you can resort to Micro Ras to remotely switch off the unit. The solution can also be used to switch on the system to ensure that the room is cool by the time you arrive home. In practice, Micro Ras system can access electrical lighting, kitchen equipment and other domestic electrical appliances. In short, it can access any electrical gadget. The versatility of the product enables numerous applications where security automation is of prime concern. The software works by entering a code for switching on the appliance through a mobile device. As soon as the code is entered Micro Ras will switch on the system. After activating the device the Ras system sends back a confirmation message on the sender’s mobile phone.

Samsung India Electronics has launched a series of workgroup printing solutions. This new series of workgroup printers allows corporate customers to streamline operations, increase productivity, and create powerful business communications more easily, creatively and affordably than ever before. They are available in three options to customers—ML-2150 workgroup laser printer, ML-2151N workgroup network laser printer and ML-2152W wireless LAN network laser printer.

Samsung’s workgroup series allows the user to enjoy benefits of a departmental laser printer (for upto 50 users) at the cost of a single workgroup laser printer. The printers come with technologically advanced options to connect to the network. The ML 2150, priced at Rs 44,000 is suitable for 5–15 users with the printer being accessible through a user’s PC only. The ML 2151N, priced at Rs 54,000 requires a network card, which will allow multiple users to access it. The ML 2152W, priced at
Rs 65,000, is a wireless printer.
