Macromedia unveils MX 2004
family of products
Macromedia recently announced the launch of the next generation of its MX product
family in India. The new MX 2004 can be used by professional developers and
designers to build websites and applications. The new product family is targeted
at the Indian developer community, which is growing at a rate of 20 percent
per annum. Also, the fact that a lot of Web development and enterprise application
work is being outsourced to India makes it one of the key markets for this product
range. The MX 2004 family includes new releases of Dreamweaver, Flash, and Fireworks
and also introduces a new product, Flash MX Professional 2004, which will enable
a new segment of developers to create rich Internet applications.
Quantum signs agreement with
Tandberg Data
Data protection systems provider Quantum has signed an agreement with Tandberg
Data to offer Quantums DLTSage diagnostics within its enterprise-class
DLTtape product portfolio. Tandberg Data will offer the essential management
and predictive capabilities of DLTSage to a worldwide customer base that relies
on DLTtape to protect its vital corporate data assets. The agreement allows
Tandberg Data to incorporate the xTalk and iTalk application agents of the DLTSage
software to support the companys enterprise-class Super DLTtape product
line, which includes the SDLT 220, SDLT 320 and the forthcoming SDLT 600, scheduled
to be available in the fourth calendar quarter of 2003.
Nucleus Software partners
with Langchao Group
sNucleus Software Exports and China’s Langchao Group have entered into a marketing
alliance to deliver comprehensive product solutions and services to the financial
services industry in China. Based on a joint marketing and business development
arrangement with Nucleus, Langchao Group will promote Nucleus’ flagship Product
FinnOne in the banking, and financial services segments. This relationship is
of strategic significance to Nucleus, which is fortifying its presence in the
Chinese market. Nucleus has the distinction of implementing its FinnOne retail
system at General Motors Acceptance Corporation, China. The partnership will
combine Nucleus’ expertise in the BFSI segment with Langchao Group’s proven
strengths in computer technology and innovative IT infrastructure solutions.
SEI-CMM Level 5 for ICICI
Infotech
ICICI Infotech has joined the elite list of organisations with the distinction
of having Level 5 (optimised level) of the SEIs capability maturity model
for its offshore software development centre in Mumbai. The assessment was conducted
by a 10-member team led by G P Rastogi of KPMG.
Datamatics partners with White
Label
Datamatics recently picked up a 51 percent stake in White Label, a Mariner Group
company. White Label will provide high level consulting and IT global sourcing
strategies in addition to assisting partner companies achieve the benefits of
global delivery models. Datamatics plans to invest between $5-10 million, mainly
in infrastructure and people, in the entity.
NIIT wins cricket championship
NIIT has won the inter-city round of the First All India IT Cricket Championship—Delhi
region. Sponsored by Express Computer and managed by Weekend Sports Inc., the
championship is a first of its kind event, which is designed for the corporate
sector of the IT industry. NIIT won the Delhi league of the championship by
defeating E-Funds. HCL Technologies and Canon India were the other two semifinalists.
